Programmes and Focus Areas

EIT Health works by identifying unmet clinical and economic needs of citizens, healthcare providers and payers within complex healthcare systems, ensuring that innovation always addresses the needs of the market and society. Based on these needs, EIT Health undertake activities divided into three overall programme areas:

Accelerator

Accelerator
Accelerator is made up of business creation programmes that support the best and brightest health industry entrepreneurs and create a favourable environment for bringing promising business ideas to the market. The Accelerator pillar consists of several programmes divided in three activity lines: Incubate, which supports researchers and would-be entrepreneurs in developing their concepts for healthcare innovations into market-ready products and services; Validate, which offers training programmes for testing and validating concepts; and Scale, which helps companies scale up the size of their business and scale out to new markets

Campus

Campus
Campus, the education pillar, provides up-to-date knowledge, skills and attitudes to help turn the brightest students into Europe’s future healthcare leaders and entrepreneurs, while at the same time engaging citizens in personalized healthcare. Campus consists of four programmes targeting the following groups: students (degree and non-degree programmes), entrepreneurs and innovators (E-labs, fellowships and training programmes), executives and professionals (training programmes) and citizens (training programmes).

Innovation projects

Innovation projects
Innovation projects provides comprehensive support for innovative projects that have the potential to win commercial support and have a positive impact on healthcare. The Innovation pillar consists of two programmes: 1) The Innovation projects programme, which supports new, solution-driven ideas that will benefit society by improving healthcare along with needs-driven projects created to address a recognised market need or societal problem, and 2) The Wild Card programme, which funds high-risk, innovative projects with transformative potential. These projects are aimed at tackling specific challenges identified by EIT Health Partners, where solving the challenge would constitute a major breakthrough in healthcare.

Focus Areas
EIT Health has selected six overall Focus Areas, which “zooms in” on a particular aspect, covering related challenges as well as desired impact. To ensure maximum impact, EIT Health requires that all activities comply with one of these Focus Areas:
