HIGH-LEVEL PUBLIC OUTREACH TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF THE BENEFITS OF A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Project acronym: RUN4HEALTH
With a focus on the benefits of a healthy life-style, Run4Health targets a broad section of the public in outreach activities carried out in conjunction with events held in three Scandinavian cities. The activity involves cross-disciplinary groups of students, researchers and business partners, and includes both an educational hands-on activity, health information and a dialogue with citizens to identify new challenges to improving health. The citizen outreach event, arranged by UCPH, took place on Culture Night (Kulturnatten) at two locations: the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science. The event included five testing stations looking at five different health indicators: fitness (VO2 max test), long-term blood sugar (HbA1c), handgrip, ‘sit-downstand-up’ and percentage of fat. The activity was planned, prepared and carried out by 11 students from medicine, public health, human physiology and sports science. At least 560 people visited the stand at the Panum Institute, and 300 visited the stand at the Ministry.
